World Champions F1 helmet will be at Wilton Legends in aid of Race Against Dementia

A unique crash helmet signed by every living Formula 1 World Champion – including Michael Schumacher – will be displayed at this year’s Wilton Legends at Wilton House, as part of the event’s partnership with Race Against Dementia.

Wearing Sir Jackie Stewart’s unmistakable white Royal Stewart tartan design, the helmet has accumulated signatures from Formula 1’s greatest names over the past decade. Alongside Schumacher, the list includes Emerson Fittipaldi, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Mika Häkkinen, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. During 2026, the helmet is travelling internationally as part of the F1 Exhibition.

Race Against Dementia, founded by Stewart in 2016 following his wife Lady Helen’s dementia diagnosis, will serve as the official charity partner of Wilton Legends. The helmet will be displayed publicly throughout the June 19-21, 2026 event, helping to raise awareness and support for dementia research.

The charity applies the speed, collaboration and innovative thinking associated with Formula 1 to medical research, supporting projects and scientific programmes around the world. Stewart has described dementia as “the greatest challenge of my life”, with the organisation having now raised more than £15 million to support its work.

As part of the weekend programme, Race Against Dementia will also host a dedicated speaker session on Saturday titled From Track to Treatment: How Motor Sport is Driving Dementia Breakthroughs, exploring how lessons from elite motor sport engineering and teamwork are being applied to scientific research.

The appearance of the helmet adds another important motor sport connection to the inaugural Wilton Legends line-up. Ross Brawn has already been confirmed among the featured guests, while the event will also bring together historically significant competition machinery and collector cars across the grounds of Wilton House, including the Gulf-liveried Porsche 917 featured in Steve McQueen’s Le Mans.
